Adam Schwarze's profile

Five Historic Sites at Pearl Harbor

A lieutenant in the United States Navy and former Marine, Adam Schwarze has been deployed nine times and received three awards for valor. Adam Schwarze serves as member of the elite Navy SEALs special forces unit based at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Especially for history enthusiasts, a trip to Oahu is not complete without a visit to Pearl Harbor, a National Historic Landmark and an active military base. Because it comprises five separate sites, Pearl Harbor is best experienced over the course of a full day. Visitors can take a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial, which commemorates the battleship sunk on December 7, 1941, killing 1,177 crewmen. The program lasts an hour and 15 minutes, which includes the short boat ride to and from the memorial.

Pearl Harbor also includes the Battleship Missouri Memorial, where General MacArthur accepted the Japanese surrender that ended World War II; the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park; the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum; and the USS Oklahoma Memorial.
